An optical relay is a semiconductor relay that uses both AC and DC, integrating both a light-emitting device and a light-receiving device.

The optical relay contains an LED that emits light when current flows through the diode. The emitted light crosses the isolation boundary and falls onto the PDA chip's light sensor, which then powers and drives the gate of the MOSFET.

Optical relays feature no mechanical contacts, long lifespan, low operating current, high isolation voltage, high-speed switching, and low leakage current.

Relays can be classified by application classification, principle classification, operating time, output form, and other methods.

Applications: Control relay and protection relay types.

Principle: electromagnetic relay, induction relay, thermal relay, mechanical relay.
